Suzy Sikorski. Founder and Director of Mid East Art
Suzy Sikorski is an art specialist based in Dubai and Riyadh, known for her work in promoting Middle Eastern modern and contemporary art. Originally from New York, she graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with a major in Middle East Studies and completed her thesis on Emirati pioneer artist Hassan Sharif (1951-2016).
In 2016, Sikorski was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to conduct independent research on UAE art history. During this period, she volunteered at galleries and interviewed pioneering UAE artists —this endeavor culminated in the creation of Mid East Art, founded in 2017 to document and share the stories of artists from the MENA region .
Following her Fulbright tenure, Sikorski continued her career in Dubai, joining Christie's in 2017 where she currently specializes in Middle Eastern 20th and 21st-century art, working to raise the profile of regional artists both locally and internationally .
Beyond her professional roles, Sikorski is passionate about uncovering and sharing the rich histories of Middle Eastern art. She has conducted over 150 interviews with artists through her "Artists in Quarantine" series, offering insights into their creative processes and personal stories.
Suzy travels extensively throughout the Middle East region and abroad. She has participated in panels at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston; The Courtald Institute, London; Misk Art Foundation, Riyadh; Qatar Foundation, Doha; Mohammed Bin Rashed Library, Dubai; among others.
Her articles have been published in arts magazines such as Canvas; Harpers Bazaar Art Arabia; ArtAsiaPacific; Tribe Photography Magazine; The National. She has contributed several artist biographies to Oxford University Press: Benezit Dictionary of Artists.
